Directed and produced by Don Siegel and is loosely based on the true story of Frank Morris and two other inmates who 'escaped' never to be found again. In later years a couple of suspected sightings of Morris were reported but it is most likely that he, along with the other two inmates, died whilst swimming in the choppy San Francisco waters surrounding the prison.
